The late Thomas Hale was a founding member of the Chicago Board of Trade who served as its fourth president in 1853.[1][2][3][4][5]
Background[edit]
Prior to serving as president of the CBOT, Hale served as a vice president.
Hale was a forwarding and commission merchant and he owned large warehouses both on North and South Water streets in Chicago.[6]
