He was named to the position in July 2010, after spending three years as chairman of the Taiwan Depository and Clearing Corporation, Taiwan's securities clearing and settlement utility. Background Before Dr. Fan served as chairman of the TDCC, he spent seven years as chairman of Trans Asian Airways. During this time he was also active in the Association of Airfreight Forwarding & Logistics, serving as chairman from 2005-2008. Previously he served as chairman of Askey Computer Corp. (2001-2006) and Fuhwa Securities (1997-2001). In August 2013, Fan joined the board of directors of Chunghwa Telecom.
