Transaction Network Services was founded in 1990 as a subsidiary of the privately held company TNS, Inc. In 1995, TNS was acquired by VeriFone, a leading provider of electronic payment systems. Under VeriFone's ownership, TNS continued to expand its product offerings and client base. In 2005, TNS was spun off as an independent company following VeriFone's acquisition by Hewlett-Packard.
