Walt Smith is a Philadelpha-based equities and derivatives executive. Currently, he serves as vice president of U.S equities and derivatives for Nasdaq OMX.[1]
Background[edit]
Smith joined the Philadelphia Stock Exchange in 1997 and moved to Nasdaq OMX in 2008 as part of Nasdaq's acquisition of PHLX.
He is a member of the management team for operation and strategic direction of Nasdaq OMX's 7 U.S. equities, futures and options exchanges.
Previously at PHLX, Smith was vice president of strategic planning, director of business and operational planning and director of broker-deal examinations. He was also general manager of the Philadelphia Board of Trade ("PBOT").
Prior to joining PHLX, Smith was a registered representative with The Vanguard Group.
Education[edit]
Smith holds a bachelor of science in economics from Penn State University and also a masters of business administration in finance and strategy from the same school.[2]
