William J. Bott was a Barclays floor specialist at the NYSE. As a specialist, Bott was charged with the day-to-day operations for the bank's designated market making unit. On July 31, 2012, Bott passed away at age 33. 
Bott got his first job on Wall Street in 2001 at LaBranche & Co., starting the week after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. He left LaBranche after being bought out in 2007 by Cowen Group to work at Van der Moolen Holding NV which transferred its NYSE specialist unit to Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. at the end of that year. Barclays bought Lehman’s brokerage in 2008.
Bott graduated from SUNY Albany in 2001.
