William Karsh is a special adviser to the National Stock Exchange, focusing on the exchange's strategic growth initiatives.[1]

Prior to this, Karsh was an executive with 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He served as Direct Edge’s chief operating officer from July 2007 to January 2011.


Karsh left Direct Edge at the end of 2010 after serving as chief operating officer.[2] He originally joined the company in March 2006, serving as chief executive officer while the company operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Knight Capital Group.

Karsh has more than 25 years of financial services experience. He has served in senior management positions at a number of firms, including the Bass Division of BTIG, Trading Services Group, LLC, UNX Inc., and National Discount Brokers.[3]

Karsh served on the board of directors of Track Data Corporation (TRAC) and on the board of advisors of Neovest, Inc.[4]

Education And Training[edit]

He has a BA in accounting from Queens College, and is a certified public accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He's served as an arbitrator for the New York Stock Exchange and NASD. Karsh holds Series 7, 63, 24 and 27 licenses.
