Aitan Goelman is the director of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Division of Enforcement. He was appointed to that position on June 11, 2014. He is a former federal prosecutor with more than 20 years of experience litigating criminal and civil matters.
Goelman joined the CFTC from the law firm Zuckerman Spaeder LLP, where was a litigation partner for 11 years, with a practice focused on white collar crime and complex commercial litigation.
Goelman previously served in the Department of Justice for nine years, including as an Assistant U. S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York and as a Special Attorney to the U.S. Attorney General. At the DOJ, he handled white-collar criminal cases involving bank, wire, mail and securities fraud, as well as RICO, and violent crimes. He was also one of the trial lawyers that convicted the Oklahoma City bombers.
