David Vitale
David Vitale is Chicago-based banking executive, civic leader and corporate board member. He currently serves as Chairman of several Duff & Phelps investment company funds. He served as the executive chairman of the Urban Partnership Bank from 2010 to January of 2019. He also served as the CEO of the Chicago Public Schools from 2011 to 2015. He was also the chief administrative officer of the Chicago Public Schools.[1] He served as the CEO of the Chicago Board of Trade and was vice chairman and a director of Bank One. He was executive chairman of Chicago-based lender ShoreBank Corp. Vitale, a longtime banking executive, was brought in to help the bank raise capital.[2] Background[edit]Vitale was an unpaid chief administrative officer for the Chicago Public Schools.[3][4] Vitale formerly was vice chairman and director of Bank One Corporation (now JP Morgan Chase), where he was responsible for the bank's commercial banking business. From February of 2001 through November of 2002 Vitale was also a former CEO of the Chicago Board of Trade.[5]In addition to serving as a member of the CBOT’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Vitale also served as President and CEO of the MidAmerica Commodity Exchange, an affiliate of the CBOT.[6] He began his career at First Chicago in 1968 in the First Scholar Program. Following several assignments and promotions, Vitale ultimately was named vice chairman in 1993; and following the merger of First Chicago and NBD in 1995, director and vice chairman of First Chicago NBD Corporation and president of The First National Bank of Chicago.[7] After retiring from Bank One, Vitale served on the board of the Chicago Board Options Exchange as a public director.[8] Vitale also serves as trustee the Glenwood School for Boys and previously served as the chairman of the board.[9] He also serves in the following capacities: trustee of the Museum of Science and Industry; trustee and vice chairman of the Board of The Art Institute of Chicago; and member of the board of managers of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.[10] Additionally, he is the vice chairman of the board of the Illinois Institute of Technology.[11] Vitale also serves on the board of directors of Ariel Capital Management.[12] He also is a member of the Economics Club of Chicago, the Chicago Club, The Arts Club, and the Commercial Club of Chicago.
