Dominic Stevens is the managing director and CEO of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). He was appointed to that role on August 1, 2016.[1] Stevens has nearly 30 years' experience in the financial markets.[2] He is also a director of ASX’s clearing and settlement licensees and their intermediate holding companies.[3]

Stevens also serves as a director of the peer-to-peer lender SocietyOne. [4]

In February 2022 Stevens announced plans to retire from ASX after nine years with the exchange and six years as CEO. [5]

Background[edit]

Stevens joined ASX as a non-executive director in December of 2013, and rose to CEO after the resignation of then -CEO Elmer Funke Kupper, who left the exchange in the wake of a bribery investigation.[6]

From 2008-2012, Stevens was the CEO of the investment management firm Challenger, and before that he was the company's deputy CEO and head of capital, risk and strategy. Prior to Challenger, Stevens served as a senior managing director at Zurich Capital Markets Asia. He previously held several senior positions in a long career at Bankers Trust Australia.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Education[edit]

Stevens received a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Finance from University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia.[7]
