Douglas Peterson is the president and CEO of McGraw Hill Financial. He took over that position in November 2013. Previously, he was president of Standard & Poor's (S&P) rating agency, owned by McGraw Hill. He started in that role on September 12, 2011, replacing Deven Sharma, following the S&P downgrade of the U.S. credit rating in early August 2011.[1][2]
Background[edit]
Peterson was previously chief operating officer for Citibank.[3] He worked for Citigroup for 25 years, beginning as a corporate banker in Argentina and New York, and later becoming the chief auditor of Citigroup from 2001 to 2004. From 2004 to the beginning of 2010, he was the CEO of Citigroup Japan.
Prior to joining Citigroup, Peterson was a research analyst for Chevron Corp.[4]
