Gina McFadden is a long time options industry executive who was president of The Options Industry Council (OIC) from 2006 to 2013 and executive vice president at The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). [1] She retired from both of those positions in September 2013.

At OIC, McFadden was responsible for business and product development, corporate communications, and investor and internet services.[2]

Background[edit]

McFadden’s career spanned nearly forty years in the options industry. Before becoming president of OIC, she was executive director from 1995 to 2006. She was also a member of The Options Clearing Corporation's (OCC) senior management team, serving as executive vice president of industry services. She was previously executive vice president of OCC's business operations group and business and product development.

McFadden oversaw the implementation of clearing enhancements that delivered operational efficiencies to options market participants. She also helped spearhead an increased focus on expanding options investor education beyond retail investors to financial advisors and institutional investors, and helped extend OIC's reach to Europe and Asia.

In 2017 she became the first woman to receive the Joseph W. Sullivan Options Industry Achievement Award. The award is given to individuals in recognition of outstanding contributions to the U.S. options industry. The award was presented at the 35th Annual Options Industry Conference on May 12, 2017 in Scottsdale, Arizona.[3]

Professional Affiliations[edit]

She was active on various industry committees and organizations, including OIC's Roundtable, OCC's Operations Roundtable, SIFMA's Equity Options Roundtable, the STA Options Committee and the Futures Industry Association. She was an inaugural board member of Women in Listed Derivatives (WILD).

McFadden was a member of Women In Listed Derivatives' Board of Directors. [4]

Education[edit]

McFadden completed the SIA’s Securities Industry Institute program at the Wharton School, and the Kellogg Management Institute graduate program at Northwestern University. She has a BA from Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois.[5]
