J. Robert Collins
J. Robert Collins was a 40-year futures trading veteran who founded Rosenthal Collins Group, an independent futures clearing firm.[1] He was regarded as one of the preeminent executives in the industry. Collins passed away on September 10, 2019 at the age of 77.[2] In 2017, Collins was inducted into the Futures Industry Association's Futures Hall of Fame, which was established in 2005 to commemorate outstanding contributions to the global futures and options community.[3] Background[edit]In 1923, his father, John F. Collins, became a clearing member of the Chicago Board of Trade[4]. In 1961 - the year pork bellies were first traded on the CME – his son joined him, and J. Robert Collins subsequently served in management at RCG and its predecessor firms for over 40 years. In 1968, Collins was elected president of the MidAmerica Commodity Exchange, which became part of the Chicago Board of Trade in 1986. He also served as a director of the CBOT and governor of the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation. Accomplishments[edit]
