John McPartland is a market executive with Hidden Road Partners LP, a quantitative investment firm. He started in May 2019.

Before joining Hidden Road, he served as senior policy adviser, financial markets, for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, focused on the Bank's public policy and regulatory reform initiatives as well as on exchange-traded and privately negotiated derivatives instruments. [1]

He has written numerous Bank publications and policy discussion papers on derivatives execution, clearing and settlement, foreign exchange trading, blockchain and other topics.

Background[edit]

Before joining the Federal Reserve, McPartland was consultant to the Fed's financial markets group. [2] His other clients included energy companies, derivatives and power clearing organizations and USAID. Before consulting, McPartland was a settlement banker, trader and deputy manager at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Clearing House. He also started a bank-parented FCM and an exchange-parent trust company. He serves on the Business Conduct Committee at the CME and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Technical Advisorty Committee. He also chaired the CFTC's Market Access Subcommittee.

McPartland has been a guest lecturer at the London School of Economics, the University of Wisconsin and the IIT Center for Financial Markets. In the summer of 2010, McPartland traveled to Germany and consulted for the European Central Bank. He was on loan from the Federal Reserve.

McPartland graduated from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management with a degree in Business Administration.
