Kristin N. Johnson is a financial markets regulator and college professor who currently serves as a commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.[1]

She was nominated to the CFTC by President Joseph Biden in September 2021 and unanimously confirmed on March 28, 2022 by the United States Senate.[2] Johnson was part of a historic class of CFTC commissioners that included four women nominees.[3][4][5][6]

Before becoming a CFTC commissioner, Johnson was the Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Law at the Emory University School of Law.

Background[edit]

Johnson has also served as the associated dean for faculty research and the McGlinchey Stafford Professor of Law at the Tulane University Law School.

She has also served as a professor of law at the Seton Hall School of Law and as an associate professor of law at Washington and Lee University.

Education[edit]

Johnson holds a bachelor of science in international economics from Georgetown University. She also holds a juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
