Lee Betsill stepped away from his position as CEO of CME Clearing Europe in June 2015 to return to Chicago as managing director, global clearing operations at CME Clearing.

Before becoming CEO of CME Clearing Europe in July of 2013, Betsill was chief operating officer and managing director for CME Clearing Europe, the London-based clearing arm of CME Group, Inc.[1] He also sits on the company's board of directors.[2]

Background[edit]

Betsill began his career on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, but moved to the clearing side in 1994 with the OM Group's Stockholmsbörsen, (now part of NASDAQ OMX. He acted as the head of clearing for OMLX, the London-based derivatives exchange, for seven years, until 2006, when he became a managing director of the London Stock Exchange and head of its EDX London subsidiary. [3]

Betsill left EDX in December 2009 to take the COO role at CME Clearing Europe.

Education[edit]

In 1984, Betsill earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Wyoming. In 1989 he received a master's degree in information management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.[4]
