Michael Moskow is vice-chairman at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.[1] He was the eighth president and CEO of the Chicago Federal Reserve in 1994 and served on the Federal Open Market Committee, the Federal Reserve System's most important monetary policy making body. He never dissented from the majority in a vote on interest rates.[2]During the course of his career, Moskow was confirmed by the U.S. Senate for five government positions.[3]

Moskow serves on the CME Group Competitive Markets Advisory Council.[4]

Moskow served as deputy U.S. trade representative and in various roles with the Department of Labor, the Council on Wage and Price Stability, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Council of Economic Advisers.[5]

He has taught strategy and international management at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and currently serves on Kellogg's Advisory Board. Moskow is a trustee of Lafayette College and former chairman of the Economic Club of Chicago. He is a director and former chairman of the National Bureau of Economic Research and is a director of the Northwestern Memorial Foundation, World Business Chicago, and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Civic Committee of The Commercial Club of Chicago, a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and a director of Discover Financial Services.[6] ComEd's board of directors appointed Moskow to the utility's board on Jan. 28.[7]

Background[edit]

Before his service at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from 1994 to 2007[8], Moskow spent 14 years in senior management at three Chicago corporations. Currently, Moskow is vice chairman and a senior fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and is a director of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City. He has served as deputy U.S. Trade Representative with the rank of ambassador, under secretary of labor, director of the Council on Wage and Price Stability, assistant secretary for policy development and research at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and senior staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisors.

Education[edit]

Moskow received his undergraduate degree from Lafayette University. He went on to earn a doctorate in business and applied economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1965.
