Paul O'Donnell Occupation Chief Operating Officer, Bats Europe Employer BATS Global Markets Location London, England Website www.batstrading.co.uk Paul O'Donnell is chief operating officer of Bats Europe. He was appointed the position in December 2011 after BATS Global Markets acquired Chi-X Europe. In June of 2012, it was announced that O'Donnell would be leaving BATS at the end of the summer for personal reasons. He will return to Morgan Stanley as a managing director in the New York City area, where he worked for 14 years prior to joining BATS in 2008. Background From April 2008 – December 2011, O'Donnell served as chief operating officer at BATS Trading (Europe). He and Mark Hemsley were the divisions first two employees. Prior to joining BATS, O'Donnell worked as executive director at Morgan Stanley from August 1994 – April 2008 in a variety of positions in information technology and institutional equities in both Japan and the U.S. He is an avid amateur cyclist with interests in wine, food and photography. Education O'Donnell holds a BSc (hons) in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Sydney, and an MBA in Finance from New York University. References
