Paul O'Donnell
Paul O'Donnell is chief operating officer of Bats Europe. He was appointed the position in December 2011 after BATS Global Markets acquired Chi-X Europe. In June of 2012, it was announced that O'Donnell would be leaving BATS at the end of the summer for personal reasons. He will return to Morgan Stanley as a managing director in the New York City area, where he worked for 14 years prior to joining BATS in 2008.[1] Background[edit]From April 2008 – December 2011, O'Donnell served as chief operating officer at BATS Trading (Europe). He and Mark Hemsley were the divisions first two employees. [2] Prior to joining BATS, O'Donnell worked as executive director at Morgan Stanley from August 1994 – April 2008 in a variety of positions in information technology and institutional equities in both Japan and the U.S. He is an avid amateur cyclist with interests in wine, food and photography. Education[edit]O'Donnell holds a BSc (hons) in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Sydney, and an MBA in Finance from New York University.[3]
