Prime brokerage refers to a group of services that many brokerages give to special clients, for example hedge funds. These services include securities lending, leveraged trade executions, and cash management, among others. Most of the large brokers, such as Goldman Sachs, Paine Webber, and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, provide prime brokerage services.
