R. D. Weeks
Occupation Seventh President of NYSE (1834-1835)

R. D. Weeks was the seventh and ninth president of the New York Stock & Exchange Board, which in 1863 shortened its name to the New York Stock Exchange. Weeks succeeded John Ward as president of the exchange in 1834.[1][2][3] He also served as president again from 1836 to 1837.

Background[edit]

The exchange, which had been created in 1792 with the signing of the Buttonwood Agreement, was formally organized with a constitution drafted in 1817.[4]
