Roland Chai will become the chief risk officer at Nasdaq effective June 1, 2020. He was most recently head of post-trade at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing.

In his new role at Nasdaq, Chai will be responsible for developing, reviewing and maintaining Nasdaq’s global risk program. He will report to Adena Friedman, the president and CEO of Nasdaq.[1]

Background[edit]

As head of post-trade at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, Chai oversaw clearing and risk management functions across equities and fixed income, currencies and commodities, as well as the exchange’s market surveillance. He had previously served as group risk officer and head of clearing at HKEX.

Before joining Hong Kong Exchange, Chai was head of equities at LCH.Clearnet for eight years. Before LCH, he was product development manager at ASX. He has also worked for Rothschild, Accenture, Skandia and Credit Suisse.[2]

Education[edit]

He holds a double degree in Arts and Law from the University of Sydney, Australia.
