Russell H. Nevins served as the fifth president of the New York Stock & Exchange Board, which in 1863 shortened its name to the New York Stock Exchange. Nevins followed James W. Bleecker as president.
Background[edit]
The exchange, which had been created in 1792 with the signing of the Buttonwood Agreement, was formally organized with a constitution drafted in 1817.
