Siobhan Cleary is a UK-based financial markets professional who serves as an ESG specialist for Baillie Gifford and is an independent non-executive director for JSE, having been appointed to the board in 2020.[1][2][3]

As a senior specialist at the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, Cleary played a role in promoting sustainable investment practices and enhancing corporate transparency on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues within the securities exchange industry worldwide.

In her capacity as director of capital markets engagement at Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Cleary was instrumental in advancing the integration of sustainability data into the mainstream reporting of organizational performance, influencing how companies align their strategies with broader societal goals.[4]

As head of research and public policy for The World Federation of Exchanges, Cleary provided strategic leadership on the development of policies and research that impacted global exchanges. Her work contributed to the understanding of the role of stock exchanges in fostering economic growth and sustainability.

Cleary has had several roles at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange including manager and director of strategy and public policy: In these positions, she shaped the strategic direction of the exchange, developing policies that reinforced the JSE's position in the global market. Her contributions also earned her a place as a member of the JSE's executive committee. She also served as head of strategy: As the head of strategy, Cleary led the development of long-term strategic plans, ensuring the JSE's growth and adaptation in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
