Thomas M. Harte is a futures industry professional.[1]
Previously, he was chief executive officer of the New York operations at MF Global prior to its bankruptcy.
Background[edit]
MF Global was established in July 2007 when Man Financial was separated through an initial public offering from Man Group plc. Before the reorganization, Harte was an executive vice president of Man Financial and a director of Man Group USA Inc. since 1993. He has been the chief executive officer of the Man Financial’s New York based businesses since 2006, was responsible for the Chicago office from 1995 to 1998 and has been responsible for corporate acquisition activities since joining MF in 1993 from Paine Webber Inc., where he was a managing director of their commercial futures division from 1990.
Harte was a senior vice president of Drexel Burnham Lambert from 1980 to 1990 where he was a manager of its institutional futures department in London from 1983 to early 1984 and then in New York through 1990. He began his career at Blyth Eastman Dillon in 1978 where he was a vice president of corporate strategy and was an architect of their entry into the futures business.

Harte has a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and a masters in international business] from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management.
