Tokyo Grain Exchange Non-GMO Soybeans
TGE Non-GMO Soybean futures trade on the Tokyo Grain Exchange (TGE). They were launched on May 18, 2000[1].
Each TGE Non-GMO Soybean futures contract represents 10,000 kilograms (10 metric tons) of standard or deliverable grade identity preserved non-genetically modified organism (non-GMO) No. 2 yellow soybeans, which is defined in accordance with the Exchange rules, and its delivery date is set as one business day prior to the last business day of the delivery month (December 24th for December contract; if not a business day, the delivery day is moved up to the nearest business day).
As of July 2008, each TGE Non-GMO Soybean futures contract is subject to a margin rate of 50,000 yen for the spot month and 45,000 yen for the other months.
In June 2008, TGE Non-GMO Soybean futures traded 265,093 contracts (-75.9 percent YOY) and its turnover amounted to 506.5 billion yen (-57.3 percent YOY).
