Alexander Höptner is the chief executive officer of BitMEX, which he joined in that role in January 2021.
He was previously the CEO and chairman of Boerse Stuttgart GmbH, CEO of Euwax AG, and authorized signatory of Euwax Aktiengesellschaft. He has been chairman since January 2018. He left the boerse in November 2020.
Before that, he was part of the Top50 Management Circle of Deutsche Börse Group and was a member of the management bodies of both the cash market and the IT department.
As executive vice president of Deutsche Börse AG for many years, Höptner's responsibilities included global member operations in the cash, derivatives and clearing markets, securities listing and admission, IT development and operations for all Group clients, worldwide sales of the marketplace infrastructure, the Capital Markets Academy training program and the global primary market.
After leaving Deutsche Börse AG in 2015, he set up a global marketplace for trading virtual goods in two start-ups and won the Gartner Cool Vendor 2016 Award for its innovation.
