Apex Group is a global financial services provider established in Bermuda in 2003, offering a suite of services covering fund administration, corporate solutions, digital assets, and ESG advisory to a diverse international client base.[1]

History[edit]

Founded by Peter Hughes in 2003, Apex Group began as a fund administrator with an aspiration to deliver high-quality client service through innovation and a global footprint.[2] The company quickly expanded beyond Bermuda, establishing European offices early on. Major growth periods included significant investment from Genstar Capital from 2017, which fueled an ambitious merger and acquisition strategy and rapid international expansion. By 2025, Apex Group had grown to employ over 13,000 people in 100+ offices across 50 countries.[3] Notable recent milestones include pioneering the use of blockchain for regulated securities, launching a volunteering program, and creating the Apex Foundation to support global charitable activities.[4]

Apex Group has also pursued strategic acquisitions to enhance its capabilities and market presence. For example, in 2025, the Group acquired the Iress Superannuation business to boost its footprint in Australia’s pension administration industry.[5] Other key moves include acquiring a majority stake in Tokeny, a tokenization solutions provider, confirming its commitment to digital asset infrastructure and institutional adoption of blockchain finance.[6]

Products and Services[edit]

Apex Group delivers a range of services across the full investment lifecycle. These include fund administration, middle- and back-office support, digital asset and tokenization solutions, ESG and sustainability advisory, corporate governance, business management, portfolio administration, market access, and capital raising support.[7] The firm also provides digital tools for clients’ reporting, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. A key focus has recently been Apex Digital 3.0, an infrastructure solution enabling the transition from traditional to on-blockchain finance at scale and offering end-to-end capabilities from asset creation to distribution.[8]

Through investment in technology, Apex provides solutions for stablecoin issuers, tokenized money market funds, and supports programmable finance, enhancing liquidity and accessibility for clients worldwide.[9]
