The Korea New Exchange ("Konex") is the Korea Exchange's third stock exchange, which it plans to launch on July 1, 2013. It is targeted toward small firms and startups that are too small to qualify for the Kosdaq or the Kospi.
The new exchange will allow easier funding for these small firms or startups, 99% of which rely on bank loans rather than public offering of stocks, according to Choi Hong-sik, KRX vice chairman. It will start with 20 to 30 listed companies. [1]
